Mutual Parish Covenant

St. Joseph's Nguludi Catholic Mission in Malawi and Holy Family of Kirkland, Washington, USA

Through the mutual sharing of our faith, experiences, and cultures, we are seeking to develop a bond between our parishes and to build a relationship that recognizes and grows from the talents, abilities and spirituality of each community. This relationship will be built on personal contact through missionary trips and projects, through the sharing of prayer requests to keep the parishes bonded and by mail to learn from each other's experiences.

The communities of Holy Family Parish of Kirkland in Washington State, USA and the St. Joseph's Nguludi Catholic Mission in Nguludi, Malawi enter into mutual covenant with the conviction that through respect, prayer and the guidance of the Holy Spirit, we will discover new and more authentic ways of being the Body of Christ, learning and helping each other as we witness to the gospel of Jesus Christ in our world.

Therefore, with great hope and joy, we prayerfully enter into this five year covenant and hereby pledge ourselves to:

  1. Pray often for each other and share prayer requests
  2. Foster mutual understanding of one another's traditions, and forms of worship
  3. Build individual relationships by writing letters and other ways of sharing information
  4. Both parishes will strive to exchange delegations to develop a greater level of understanding and involvement
  5. Plan for financial assistance and help implement projects

...we will hold to the truth in life, becoming more and more in every way like Christ, who is the head of his body, the church. Under his direction, the whole body is fitted together perfectly. As each part does its own special work, it helps the other parts grow, so that the whole body is healthy and growing and full of love. (Ephesians 4:15-16)
